Welcome to Big Girl Skivvies – a blog, forum, escape zone
for chicks (or dudes) who live crazy busy lives trying to balance work, family
and fitness. Big Girl Skivvies is made up of two self-proclaimed bad ass moms,
Theresa Meyer and April Sherman. Read our bios here. We were lucky enough to meet 13 years ago
through our hillbilly husbands and have been besties ever since we discovered
that we both curse like sailors, despise drama, and are confident in our total
nerdness. Over the years we’ve had failures and victories as it relates to
fitness. Over the past several months we have worked our tails off (literally,
both of our pants are falling off now) to tailor fitness strategies that have
worked wonders for our minds, bodies, and souls (we know, that’s cliché, but
it’s true). We’ll use Big Girl Skivvies to help you do the same.
But first, let’s start by telling you what this blog is NOT.
It is not a place where we’ll constantly preach to you about fitness
excellence. We will not stand on soap boxes declaring our victories and
lecturing you about eating spinach instead of cheese curds or beer (you’ll
likely see more advocacy for beer and wine than a lot of other things), and you
will not feel shamed, discouraged, or outraged when you read our posts about
fitness endeavors or challenges.
At Big Girl Skivvies our motto is this: Be real. Don’t sweat
the small stuff. Shit happens. As you get to know us, we hope you’ll appreciate
our approach to blogging about fitting fitness into the lives of busy moms
& chicks (and dudes, we welcome dudes too) everywhere. We’re not going to
bullshit you and pretend that we never make mistakes or just get lazy. In fact,
you may find solace in some of the posts we’ll feature about hangover cures and
creative ways to fit workouts in while tailgating at a sporting event or summer
bonfire.
So stick with us, and tell us what you’d like to hear and
learn from us (we can’t promise we’ll know the answers but we’ll do our best to
find them and seek out the experts if we don’t consider ourselves experts on
the topic – really, we don’t consider ourselves experts at anything except karaoke,
Harlem booty shakes, and air guitar). What we promise you is this: we’ll share
our experiences (good and bad) with fitness and getting in shape post baby, our
joys and failures as moms, our favorite recipes for meals and cocktails, and
thoughts on balancing careers with families, hillbilly husbands, and finding
time for ourselves (rare, but when we find it, we tear it up).
Thanks for visiting Big Girl Skivvies and get ready for a sweet
ride with us.
